DAVAO ORIENTAL — To conclude the month-long celebration of the International Women’s Month, the provincial government led a simple culmination program in commemoration of the celebration dedicated to women.

The culmination program was held at Villa Zaragosa in Manay, Davao Oriental while a separate program was held at Municipal Hall in the municipality of Tarragona.

Not only did the governor offered his abode in Manay as the venue for the gathering, he also made a personal contribution to the subsidy given to the women presidents.

During the celebration, Governor Nelson Dayanghirang, in support to the women sector, gave the women’s association presidents of each barangay in the municipality of Manay an incentive if P8,000 as subsidy from the provincial government.

Governor Nelson Dayanghirang led the celebration, and highlighted women’s efforts as active contributors to and claimholders of development.

“This month-long celebration underscores the recognition we place to women in the family, community and nation,” Governor Dayanghirang said.

The Governor also reiterated that the provincial government has always made significant strides to empower women by giving them more financial, health and medical benefits, as well as better work opportunities.

“The provincial government will continue to advocate for women’s rights and women empowerment,” he added.

Earlier that day, a separate culmination celebration also took place at Tarragona Municipal Hall where Tarragona Women Association Presidents also received P6,000 subsidy from the provincial government.

Board Member Nennette Palmera, the Committee Chair on Women and Family, emphasized the role of women in the social, cultural, economic and political development.

She said that equality lies with acknowledging that women could not stand without men, as much as men could not live without women.

She also reminded everyone of their roles in the ongoing crisis with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also present to give their support are newly-appointed Manay Councilor Jan Mae Dayanghirang-Llavore, Councilor Jon Marco Dayanghirang, Federated Women’s President Mrs. Charito Uy, Head Officer of the Social Welfare and Development Office Mrs. Sarah Gudes, Head of the Gender and Development Committee Mr. Jerwin Quinones, and Board Member Anacleto Macatabog.
