DAVAO ORIENTAL—In the continuous effort to address the community’s urgent needs on vital infrastructure, Governor Nelson Dayanghirang has once again turned over high-impact projects to far-flung villages.

The latest recipients of the Provincial Government’s infrastructure projects were villages in Governor Generoso and San Isidro towns.

In a series of blessing and turn over ceremonies held on December 19, a road concreting project and a covered court was formally turned over to Barangay Anitap in Governor Generoso town.

Funded under the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) 2018, the 2.1-kilometer road covers three sub-villages in Barangay Anitap. The said road concreting is under the phase one of the P26.6 million local road network from Barangay Anitap up to Barangay Oregon and Magdug.

“We are very happy that finally the road in our sitio has been concreted. For a long time, we have endured the unpaved road which causes frequent accidents. Now that it is here, we are confident that motorists are safer. The fare also is now cheaper. Thank you so much, Governor Dayanghirang,” said Miguel Neneria, Chairman of Purok 7, one of the three sub-villages that will benefit of the road project.

“Thank you Governor Dayanghirang for giving us this project. It was our dream to have this road concreted and you grant us this only within three months after we submitted our request. Now it is easier for us to transport our goods to the market,” said Punong Barangay Rene Sabandal.

Punong Barangay Sabandal further thanked the Governor for the P3 million worth covered court constructed within the campus of Venancio Juan Elementary School. With funding sourced out through loan proceeds from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), the covered court, like all of the infrastructures built under the initiative of Governor Dayanghirang, is earthquake and typhoon-resilient.

While the covered court is functional, Governor Dayanghirang said he has ordered the Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO) to ensure that the remaining areas of the project will be completed next year, compliant to its second purpose which is to become an evacuation center on disasters.

“Although there are still finishing touches for the covered court that have to be made such as a stage, male and female toilet and bath, rubberized paint, and landscaping, rest assured these will be completed next year,” said Governor Dayanghirang.

Meanwhile, Potable Water Systems were turned over to Barangay Tandang Sora, Governor Generoso and to Barangay La Union in San Isidro town.

The level three Potable Water System in Barangay Tandang Sora is set to benefit five sub-villages or a total of 300 households. With a budget of P4.098 million funded through DBP loan proceeds, the project’s scope of work includes the construction of intake box and ground reservoir and installation of transmission pipelines and distribution pipelines.

As Governor Dayanghirang is set to fund another project for the barangay next year, Punong Barangay Reynaldo Salimbahon extended his thanks in behalf of the residents.

“Thank you, Governor, for your usual support to our community. This water system will be taken care of because we will turn over this to the water association who will manage its maintenance,” said PB Salimbahon.

“With the turnover of these projects, we finally feel that the people here in Governor Generoso are not left behind. Thank you, even for the projects you committed to give us,” said Vice Mayor Vicente Orencia, referring to the P60 million Municipal Gymnasium that the Governor will initiate next year in Governor Generoso town.

Also, more than 1,000 households in La Union, San Isidro will benefit from the P13.259 million level three Potable Water System. Also funded through DBP loan proceeds, the project’s scope of work includes the construction intake box and concrete ground reservoir, and the installation of transmission and distribution pipelines.
