DAVAO ORIENTAL – There’s no stopping Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital of Governor Generoso until it gets its ultimate goal of becoming a level one hospital, a step more responsive to the health needs of the people of Governor Generoso town.

In the recent inauguration of the new facilities of the hospital, Dr. Reden Bersaldo, Chief of Hospital, said that they are determined to uplift the delivery of services to the constituents of Governor Generoso.

“We’ve been through a lot, and this is absolutely and definitely not the time to stop,” he stressed.

With the new and additional facilities to DOPH-GG, Dr. Bersaldo and his team are doubling their efforts to put up more development in terms of health services that can be delivered, as the people deserves nothing less in health care.

“We are very grateful to the Department of Health for funding our new airconditioned with with a 10-bed capacity Emergency Room, the watcher’s lounge, and the new ward. The high ceiling ward can house 30 patients, and it is designed to give comfort, both to the hospital staff and the patients. We also take pride to our watcher’s utility building, which was conceptualized to house watchers coming from far-flung barangays,” the Chief of Clinic and Chief of Hospital explained.

Also, Bersaldo reiterated his profound gratitude to Governor Nelson Dayanghirang for being so attentive to their needs, aside from the support also of the local government unit.

The provincial government has an enormous counterpart to the project on human resource through the hiring of new nurses and the effort to give them a fair pay, through local government development fund, and in the capital outlay in the equipment of the hospital.

On his part, Gov. Dayanghirang recognized the efforts of Dr. Bersaldo to make both ends meet for the hospital and the people.

“I see how Dr. Bersaldo worked hard for the two hospitals, the DOPH-GG and the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in the City of Mati, in improving the facilities and upgrading the equipment.  I offered Dr. Reden to work full time in Mati, but he politely declined, saying he will not leave Governor Generoso until it becomes a level 1 hospilital,” he added.

Dr. Bersaldo explained that a level 1 hospital can perform surgery. Now, the hospital can only do surgery on minor cases, like cyst, among others.

The Governor is very happy with the showcase of services that the hospital now offers.

The new structures will complement and strengthen the existing services already offered by the hospital, like general consultation and admission on Pediatrics and OB-Gynecology cases, and public health services that include animal bite treatment center, smoking cessation, and services from the women and child protection unit
