Gov Dayanghirang Recalls Past Accomplishments, Gives a Glimpse of the Province’s Direction in 2019

DAVAO ORIENTAL—Convened with all employees of the Provincial Capitol and national government agencies, Governor Nelson Dayanghirang, during the first Monday convocation of this year, presented the province’s major accomplishments in 2018, underlining that it will serve as a springboard for the province in achieving its goals for the year 2019.

“As we talk about our goals in the year 2019, let us first take a look of how we faired in the previous year. Because whatever success we achieved last year, we have to make it as basis for us to improve our jobs, to improve the delivery of our services,” Governor Dayanghirang said.

Governor Dayanghirang lauded and thanked the key agencies and department heads whose efforts has yield the province prestigious awards in different categories.

Some of these awards are Regional Gawad Saka Search for Agri-Fishery Achievers and Rice Achievers Award, Kapayapaan Award from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Gold Performance Award in Anti-Drugs Effort, and Regional Presidential Lingkod-Bayan, among others.

The Governor likewise lauded the department heads who have made notable impacts on agriculture, peace, public safety, disaster preparedness, anti-illegal drug campaign, tourism and environment, and socialized housing.

Taking off from these achievements from the previous year, Governor Dayanghirang asked the entire provincial workforce as well as its partner agencies to continue unifying efforts to bag the highly coveted Seal of Good Local Governance award this year.

“We did not pass the SGLG last year but as I’ve said let’s not lose hope. Instead let us make it an inspiration for us to improve our service. Let us all continue unifying efforts to win this award this year,” he said.

Aside from eyeing for the seal, the governor also asked everybody’s support to successfully push through some of the major plans set to be completed this year. This include the realization of the highly ambitious big-ticket Davao Oriental Industrial Park; the construction of a Davao Oriental Sports Complex and Davao Oriental Tourism Complex; and, the establishment of processing centers for coconut produce, and other interventions that will ensure market for farmers’ produce and income for the province.

Finally, he capped his message by saying that “Our end goal is to make Davao Oriental World-Class Province. As the captain of the ship, we will take off towards a new phase of development wherein we develop a new generation of committed and passionate workers of government towards genuine and sustainable peace and development. An enterprising province, empowered communities and pro-active and participative citizens. We are gearing towards a world class province for Industry, Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources, Technology and Education, Infrastructure, and, Peace and Order.
