DAVAO ORIENTAL — The construction for the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (PCCI) Davao Oriental Chapter’s new building is now set to commence as Governor Nelson Dayanghirang formally signed the Deed of Donation for the 500 square meters lot donated by the provincial government to the chamber.

The said lot is located at the Government Center, Barangay Dahican, City of Mati where the chamber will soon construct its three-storey building.

Engr. Rufo Trocio, President of PCCI-Davao Oriental Chapter, conveyed the chamber’s gratitude to the province for its generosity, adding that it will be of great help to the chamber as it strives to bring more business opportunities in the province.

“We thank Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang because finally, we have this lot now. We can now move on towards the next plan. Hopefully, we could start the construction of a P16 million worth building by the second quarter of next year,” he said.

Engr. Trocio said, “it will be a progressive type of project, to be done by the administration and to be supervised by the chamber.”

“The ground floor will be done first. It will serve as an exhibit hall where products locally made from the different parts in the province will be exhibited for potential buyers to buy and bring them home, back to their respective countries or provinces,” he said.

Engr. Trocio is optimistic that they can complete the project with support from their benefactors who already made their pledges.

He thanked the provincial government for always regarding the Chamber as a development partner, which the chamber means to maintain to and to beef up.

For his part, Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang said he is happy with his partnership with the chamber throughout the years, saying that the biggest revenue source of all government units comes from the business sector.

“I am happy that the chamber is already established in the province. I am glad that it has shown its strength in contributing to a vibrant local economy. Yes, we are now embattled with the pandemic, but with the business sector as our partner, we continue to make and find ways to still deliver and eventually make progress,” he explained.

In a short meeting with visiting Indonesian Consul General Dicky Fabrian, the members of the chamber expressed their desire to partner with Indonesia for possible business ventures, particularly in tourism.

“I am telling our businessmen in Indonesia to come and invest in the Philippines. I tell them that though there are conflicts in some parts of Mindanao, particularly Jolo, but it does not speak of the general situation in Mindanao. And to persuade our Indonesian businessmen in investing in your country, show us what you’ve got and what you can offer,” Engr. Trocio added.

As yet, the Chamber is working hard on promoting business opportunities in the province, and the soon to rise edifice will accommodate visitors where they can show and explain opportunities they can engage in. By: Neela Duallo
